Is This Who You Want Choosing Your President?

This is an email Oregon Democrats are passing around to each other. It was sent to Oregon Magazine by someone who worked for the state government for years. Our source got it from a former co-worker who is still employed at that agency. The italicized text is supposed to be taken as a series of comments from a termporarily truthful G.W. Bush. The comments in straight typeface are my line by line responses -- LL/OrMag

Subject: Election time again...

I attacked and took over 2 countries.

Bill Clinton attacked and took over 2 countries -- Haiti and Kosovo. The first is suffering violent and widespread revolt today and the second is in the hands of the KLA, a moslem terrorist army which was trained by Osama bin Laden and which finances its activities with illegal drug sales in Europe. George Bush attacked and took over 2 countries. The people of Afghanistan have a new constitution and the people of Iraq have an opportunity to get a government based on the rule of law instead of men. Afghani women are attending school for the first time in many years. Fewer Iraqis have died during the entire American occupation than died in some single weeks under Hussein.

I spent the U.S. surplus and bankrupted the US Treasury.

The surplus disappeared down the maw of the recession the Clinton Administration left to George Bush. All standard indicators state that this recession was in progress before Bush took office. It is impossible for a president to cause a recession before he takes office. Using a stupid premise like that, it could be said that the Great Depression was caused by Franklin D. Roosevelt. As to a bankrupted U.S. Treasury, the idea is ridiculous. When you are bankrupt, you cannot pay your bills. No bill owed by the U.S. government has gone unpaid. Not a single one.

I shattered the record for the biggest annual deficit in history (not

easy!).

A deficit of $1,000 is ten times a deficit of $100, and is a bad thing if the entity suffering the deficit has the same income in both cases. A person or a nation, if the debt goes up ten times and the income remains the same, it is trouble. If, however, the person with the $100 deficit enjoys an increase in income of ten times, the new $1,000 deficit represents no more problem than the smaller amount did. As in your own home, the amount of debt must be compared to the amount of income. One of the largest, most terrible deficit periods in American history was during the wartime presidency of Franklin Roosevelt. Dollar for dollar, it was a fraction of the present deficit, yet it was a greater danger because the GNP, or total income, of America was tiny compared to now. In straight dollar terms, the Bush deficit when compared to the income of the nation, amounts to a debt of perhaps 4%.

If you ever get the amount you personally owe down to where it represents 4% of your income, you will consider yourself to be in the best financial shape of your life. You will be correct in believing that..

I set an economic record for the most personal bankruptcies filed in any 12 month period..

Once more, a pile of economic baloney. The number of bankruptcies is meaningless unless you compare it to the number of entities (families, companies) that exist during a given period of time. Using unemployment as an example, since it often results in personal bankruptcies, during the Great Depression, the unemployment rate was 25%. The jobless rate in America today is below 6%. The nation may have had 100,000,000 people then. 25% of that is 25,000,000 people out of work. It has 300,000,000 now. 6% of that is 18,000,000 people out of work.

So, with three times the population we have a fraction of the unemployment and these people think the rate of bankruptcies is higher than during the Great Depression? With three times the population, we have fewer people (in raw numbers!) out of work than back then.

It can be said another way, as well. With under 6% unemployment, America has over 94% employment, at present! Do you actually believe that at 94% employment America has a terrible economy? The world is full of nations that would fall to their knees in gratitude to the gods for an employment rate that high.

I set all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the stock

market.

The economy left to Bush by Clinton caused the DOW to drop to something like 1992-4 levels. (ED: Less of a drop than that, I discovered the morning after I posted this.) Following the tax cuts, the DOW began to recover, and has now shot up to the high 10,000 range. There isn't a living soul who thinks it won't push over 11,000 this year. The NASDAQ (technical stocks, like electronic and computer companies) is climbing higher now than during the "Clinton Boom." Terrible stock price disasters should be made of sterner stuff. That is a way of saying that the people who are telling you about the biggest drop in the history of the stock market (a lie) are ignoring what has happened since. This is because if they tell you the whole truth, you will realize that things are very, very good these days. They don't want you to know about that.

I am the first president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.

These people are propagandists on a Stalinist level. The sentence as constructed implies that Bush personally put somebody to death. That wording is not an accident. It is intentionally inflammatory, intentionally personal. We'll set aside the fact that there are some people who earn their execution by way of the brutality of their crimes. What Bush did was to not interfere with an execution. He did not pardon somebody who had had years of appeals of his sentence, and failed to present a reason why he shouldn't be sent to his final reward. Those of you who are familiar with our present system of justice know what the term recidivism means. You know what happens when career criminals escape the prison system, or are turned loose for one reason or another. Those of you who have had relatives killed by such people do not need my explanation as to why we should take no chances with some criminals.

In my first year in office I set the all-time record for most days on

vacation by any president in US history (tough to beat my dad's, but I did). After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, I presided over the worst security failure in US history.

1) If you factor into this assessment what was done by the president while in the oval office, the amount of time spent by Bush doing the people's business outstrips Clinton by a factor of ten. You've seen it at work. There are some people who can accomplish more in an hour than other employees manage in a day. During Clinton's last two years in office, for example, he didn't offer a single piece of new legislation to congress. Not one. Bush is a very different kettle of fish. He always has a number of irons in the fire, and has sent more legislation to congress in three years than Clinton did in eight.

2) The "worst security failure in U.S. history" to which the writer refers is, of course, 911. The terrorist hijack of commercial aircraft, which they flew into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. During the Clinton Administration, Americans were bombed, dragged behind jeeps through African streets, and blown up as they slept in their bunks in naval vessels. During that time the CIA was stripped down to nothing and so many military installations were closed that based on the numbers of soldiers alone the size of the U.S. government was reduced. Clinton choked the defense department to such a degree that during one of his many foreign military adventures he used the last Tomahawk missle the nation had.

If you want to know how one of the most powerful standing professional armies on the planet became a force of part-time soldiers, look to Clinton. If you want to know how North Korea developed a nuclear capability, look to Clinton. If you want to know how a Pakistani scientist managed to get rich selling nuclear secrets to rogue nations, look to Clintion. If you want to know how China developed MIRV capability, look to Clinton. (Loral, his largest corporate campaign donor, sold the technology to them when Clinton transferred the technology from the Defense Department to the Commerce Department.)

I set the record for most campaign fund raising trips by any president in US history.

If you change "trips" to "events," you get a more accurate picture of this one. Shall we count the donations dragged out of American corporations to buy seats on trips with the Commerce Dept? Shall we count the $20,000 a night campaign donations for the use of the Lincoln bedroom by celebrities? Shall we count the daily "coffee table photo-ops" for campaign donors in the White House? ($10,000 a latte?) Shall we count the bags of money orders delivered to the White House back door by Asian friends of the Clintons? (Payoffs for arrangements made on behalf of Chinese-Indonesian pals? You probably don't know why he turned a giant coal deposit in Utah into a national park. For more information on that, check out who built the largest low-sulphur coal electric generating plant in the world, and who supplies them with what kind of coal from where.)

In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their jobs.

In a nation with 300,000,000 people, that is an increase in unemployment of less than 1%. But, let's factor the kids out of the equation. Call it an unemployment increase of 2%. Since it takes two years for a tax cut to begin to bring an economy back from recession (both JFK and Reagan brought the nation out of a recession with tax cuts in exactly that length of time), the 2 million jobs lost were the result of things that happened prior to Bush's inaugeration. Just as with JFK and Reagan, the Bush tax cuts are now taking effect. The economy is improving all across America, including here in Oregon. The Leftists in charge of this state are keeping the news about this under wraps, but revenues to the Oregon treasury are improving. Only one thing improves revenues to a treasury if high inflation isn't a factor -- and we do not have high inflation, now.. More revenues means more people payng taxes. Only one thing causes more taxpayers to appear. More jobs.

I cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than any other president in US history.

What utter, titanic baloney. The Republican-controlled congress has passed extension after extension to the unemployment payment schedule, and Bush has signed every single one of them. (So many of them, in fact, that he has a large number of conservatives angry with him about it.)

I set the all-time record for most real estate foreclosures in a 12-month

period.

The Clinton recession caused job loss. Job loss generates foreclosures. Bush policies had nothing to do with the problem. In fact, during the second two years Bush has been president, new home construction has been running at all time highs. It is still doing it, today.

I appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.

That one is funny. If you want championshp political corruption, look to the administrations of Warren G. Harding and Bill Clinton. Forty people Clinton brought into national government or his campaigns went to jail or have left the country to avoide prosecution. More associates of Bill Clinton died under bizarre circumstances during his tenure in office than the previous ten presidents combined. His secretary of commerce, his wife's White House advisor, friends who were governors, friends in jail -- the list is a mile long. Hell, Clinton lost his license to practice law in Arkansas as a result of perjurous testimony which got him impeached. But for a pack of Democrat senators whose FBI files he had, he would have been removed from office.

I set the record for the fewest press conferences of any president, since

the advent of TV.

Those of us who understand the bias of the American mainstream media think G.W. has had too many press conferences.

I signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any other US president in history.

Clinton set the executive order record. As to Bush using them to amend the Constitution, that is a moronic thing to say. The Democrat who wrote that is an idiot. He or she doesn't even understand the contents of the Constitution being discussed, here. The U.S. Constitution can only be amended by a Constitutional convention or by a special vote of passage in both houses of Congress followed by approval of the amendment by 3/4 of the state legislatures.

I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to

intervene when corruption was revealed.

Do you hear laughter? Have you ever heard of Jimmy Carter, stagflation, soaring energy prices and mile-long waiting lines at gas stations? As to corruption, you might go back to the Clinton Administration and look into the emptying of a massive defense petroleum reserve impoundment. Pay particular attention to which oil company received that black gold. Then, take a look at who owned 100,000 shares of that oil company's stock. I'll give you a hint. It wasn't accidental, it was Occidental. The stockholder in question has a farm in Tennessee.

I cut health care benefits for war veterans.

George Bush and the Republican congress has had to battle the damned Democrats to get pay and benefit increases for the military. During the Clinton Administration V.A. hospitals were squeezed out of existence. The veteran health care situation has, except during the two years after Jumping Jim Jeffords handed the Senate to the Democrats, been improving. Anybody who believes Democrats are strong supporters of any segment of national defense from military equipment to veteran's benefits needs psychiatric help.

I set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me ( 15 million people ), shattering the record forprotest against any person in the history of mankind.

Absolutely ridiculous. How many people not only marched, but picked up a gun and risked their life to get rid of Hitler? Half a billion? How many despised Stalin? He marched at least five million more of his own citizens to his Gulag death camps than this idiot claims marched in protest to Bush. How many people hated the Roman Empire? Most of the known world? This kind of historical misinformation reminds me of the Saudi Minister of History (or was it "information") who said that no nation in history had been successfully forced to accept a western form of constitutional government. He had apparently never heard of Japan or Germany.

I dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.

If we're talking about Clinton's treaty with North Korea, the Kyoto Accords and that European World Court of Justice, the nation owes Bush a constitutional amendment giving him six more terms out or pure patriotic gratitude.

I've made my presidency the most secretive and unaccountable of any in US history.

You must be thinking of Nixon or Clinton. Bush told the nation exactly what he was going to do, and has been doing exactly that ever since he took office. No president has ever been more open about his goals. No president has been more willing to be accountable for his methods. Good Lord, when did Clinton ever accept responsibility for anything that went wrong? When didn't he take credit for anything that went right, whether he had anything to do with it, or not?

Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (The poorest multimillionaire, Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her.)

Name a member of the Clinton Administration who isn't dead, in jail or has left the country who isn't rich. How much is Clinton worth today? Where, on a president's salary, did he get those millions? And, while we're on the general subject, name two Democrat senators who aren't millionaires. How much is John F. Kerry worth? (Can you spell Heinz?) In fact, shall we inquire as to what stock deal generated the present wealth of the head of the DNC, Terry McAuliff?

I am the first president in US history to have all 50 states of the Union

simultaneously struggle against bankruptcy.

(Speaking to the liberal author, not the fictitious Bush) No kidding? At under 6% unemployment with interest rates at their lowest in decades, inflation at a snail's pace, a GNP in the trillions and the stock market going through the roof, more states are in serious financial trouble than during the 25% unemployment of the Great Depression? You actually believe that the majority of the American people are stupid enough to buy that one? But, perhaps they are. You have been in control of public education for decades. The school system you have created may actually be able to turn out people that stupid in numbers that large.

I presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud in any market in any country in the history of the world.

Actually, that is an outright lie. Those frauds were discovered after Bush became president. They were created during the Clinton Administration. Bush is presiding, as you put it, over the trial and punishement of those people.

I am the first president in US history to order a US attack AND military occupation of a sovereign nation, and I did so against the will of the

United Nations and the vast majority of the international community.

Tell that to the citizens of Haiti, moron. Bubba sent the troops in there. You might also take a look at WWII. FDR sent troops to attack and occupy Japan and Germany. Earlier presidents ordered attacks on Cuba and Mexico. The latter two were occupied. Didn't some American president attack and occupy the Philippines? You must be a product of your own school system.

As to the will of the United Nations, who cares? Any organization that puts a nation of slave traders (the Sudan) on their Human Rights Committee doesn't merit either respect or attention.

I have created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States, called the "Bureau of Homeland Security"(only one letter away from BS)..

Actually the government department in question is a combination of a zillion formerly independent government agencies who were so out of communication with each other that Arab hoodlums were able to learn how to fly airplanes at American airports, hijack commercial jets and fly them into some of the most valuable commercial real estate on Earth, in the process killing thousands of American civilians. Since Bush created that organization from all that chaos, Arab thugs haven't managed to hijack a Piper Cub and fly it into a dumpster. Do you take stupid lessons or does ignorance come to you naturally?

I set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases,

more than any other president in US history (Ronnie was tough to beat, but I did it!!).

Ronnie didn't create budget deficits. He spent quite a bit of money, alright, but it went to pay for a Constitutional requirement, national defense. Jimmy Carter, besides giving the Panama Canal to the Chinese communists, presided over a nearly complete disintegration of our national defense. Reagan rebuilt it. But, the "Reagan deficits" to which you refer were not Reagan deficits. Take a look at the U.S. Constitution. You will discover that the president is given a budget for the agencies he supervises. It is the House of Representatives which gives him that money. The House decides what is spent and where. I'm not kidding. It's right there in the Constitution. What you call "Reagan deficits" were actually "House of Representatives deficits" -- massive increases in entitlements like welfare. Do you know which party controlled the House of Representatives during the eight years Reagan was president?.

I'll give you a hint. Their name begins with a "D."

I am the first president in US history to compel the United Nations remove the US from the Human Rights Commission.

To make room for the Sudan, I imagine. You can buy a slave there, today, for forty bucks. Tens of thousands of Christians tortured and murdered in the past decade. Fine Human Rights record. A brilliant U.N. selection. I can't think of a higher honor than being kicked off the U.N. Human Rights Commission.

I am the first president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the Elections Monitoring Board.

Ah, yes. The U.N. Elections Monitoring Board. Political stability in Cuba, North Korea, the Congo, Syria and Rwanda. Damn fine organization. Simple elections in Zimbabwe. Yessir.

I removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of

congressional oversight than any presidential administration in US history.

Removed checks and balances? Where? Which ones? There's no check on sodomy in America these days, but you're going to have a difficult time convincing anybody with a working brain that Bush promoted that. You can't be talking about a suspension of habeus corpus. Lincoln is the president who did that, not Bush. Are you talking about the Constitutional rights of enemy solders captured in time of war? They don't have any. Read the document. Their rights have to do with an international treaty concerning prisoners of war, and a young Moslem who just left Guantanamo said he had a great time, there. He thought he received better treatment as a prisoner of war than he received as a soldier of Islam. No, I think you have "checks and balances" mixed up with liberal ideas floating around in your head.

The right to redistribute money from those who work for it to those who don't. The right to preferential treatment in job placement, education and other areas for people based on the color of their skin, their sex or their sexual orientation. Those must be the rights you're talking about. The ones that judges had to say are in the Constitution, even though they aren't.

I rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant. I withdrew from the World Court of Law.

The United Nations rendered itself irrelevant. It is the most botched up, biased, useless and wasteful international organization on the planet. It should be bulldozed into the East River and dragged off to a landfill in New Jersey.

I refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.

This is the prime reason why you no longer have either house of congress or the White House. You actually believe Ameria is the bad guy. What you need is a stint as a prisoner in Cuba, North Korea, Syria, Zimbabwe or a hundred other such places on Earth. It's why you should be shipped to the Sudan. Not even as a prisoner. Just shipped there to live and try to make a living. Tibet would be another good place for you. Iran, too. Even China. It would be good for you if you were sent to Chna, or Cambodia, or even present day Vietnam.

Six months in any of those places -- just living there -- and you would beg to be allowed to return, even if it meant becoming a prisoner of war of the United States of America .

I am the first president in US history to refuse United Nations election

inspectors access during the 2002 US elections.

I don't recall the section of the U.S. Constitution that calls for U.N. inspections of our elections. Which clause is it?

I am the all-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.

Legal ones, yes.

The biggest lifetime contributor to my campaign, who is also one of my best friends, presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).

And the current head of the Congressional Budget Office was a member of Enron's accounting firm. Guess who gave him the job? As to Kenneth Lay, his most efficient work was as the number one corporate contributor to California's former governor, Gray Davis. He got something for that. Massive California energy brownouts. As to the Bush connection to Lay, I would like to see some documentation as to what he gave to Bush, when he gave it and what proof there is of any special benefits that he got for doing it. The only such connection which I know of has to do with reciprocity for donations to Clinton campaigns. I believe one of your search keywords should be "India."

I spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in US

history.

The father of focus groups is Bill Clinton. He didn't take a crap without checking with his morning focus group. The idea that Bush determines his direction via polls or focus groups is so ridiculous as to border on lunacy. You must have the IQ of a frog. Not even Peter Jennings would buy that one.

I am the first president to run and hide when the US came under attack (and then lied, saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1)

Bush, an F-102 pilot and wildcat oil driller is a coward? Shirley, you jest.

I am the first US president to establish a secret shadow government.

You have never heard of Franklin Roosevelt, then. Or are you talking about something other than the usual setting up of a governmental structure in a different location than the president during times of war? That is standard operating procedure for all presidents, and done to guarantee a proper civilian command continuity in case the president is lost during such an emergency. If that isn't what you're talking about, I can't imagine what you mean. Some sort of secret cabal, maybe. The kind of stuff you see on some of the internet forums. Henry Kissinger seeding commercial jet plane contrails with mind-wiping droplets which to avoid requires one to wear an aluminum foil beanie. Lunatic fringe conspiracy junk. Sounds like something you'd believe.

I took the world's sympathy for the US after 9/11, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).

God, but you liberals are something. We're back to America being hated more than Nazi Germany. I kind of doubt that, if for no other reason than that America is the number one destination in the world for those who wish to have better lives. People die trying to get here, not trying to get away from here.

I am the first US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe ( 71% ) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

Now, that one may be true. Not the threat part, but the opinion part. I worry a lot about what the French think of us. I lose sleep over it.

I changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts..

You're confused on this one. Take a look at the last minute pardons Clinton made. What you're missing with Bush is that he is a conservative Christian. If you look into the matter a bit, you will discover that the New York Times has been for years hiding from you the attitude of conservative Christians towards law enforcement, paroles, prison terms and the death penalty. Conservative Christians, when you get to know them, will admit that they are not actually all that soft on crime.

I set the all-time record for the number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling their huge investments in corporations bidding for gov't contracts.

You're mixing Bush up with Clinton, again. Your reference here is that big transfer of oil from the U.S. Defense emergency reserve I mentioned earlier. The accidental Occidental thing. Look for the Tennessee connection.

I have removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history.

What exactly is it that you aren't free to do any longer? Actively work for the armed overthrows of the U.S. government? What civil liberties have been taken from you? The right to molest children?

I entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

Actually Bush entered office after the Clinton recession had begun and in less than two years had every single economic category heading straight up.

RECORDS AND REFERENCES: I have at least one conviction for drunk driving in Maine (Texas driving record has been erased and is not available).

Yes, I know about that Bush DUI in Maine. He had had one too many glasses of wine while eating dinner at his parents home, and realized that he was a bit fuzzy. He was arrested for driving too slowly and cautiously.

I was AWOL from the National Guard and deserted the military during time of war.

That claim proves you are a moron. Read this.

I refuse to take a drug test or even answer any questions about drug use. (wink, wink)

You're speaking of Bill Clinton, again. He's not the president any longer. This is becoming boring. I'll speed it up.

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas have been spirited away to my fathers library, sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records of any SEC investigations into my insider trading or bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All minutes of meetings of any public corporation for which I served on the board are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. Any records or minutes from meetings I (or my VP) attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review.

This from a liberal who thought Nixon should have gone to jail for having two FBI files, but Clinton should get a pass for having twelve hundred of them? Welcome to the People's Democratic Republic of Oregon, folks.

With Love,

GEORGE W. BUSH

The White House, Washington, DC

Note: this information should be useful to voters in the 2004

election. Circulate to as many citizens you think would be helped to be

reminded about this record.

Pure fantasy. But, he or she is correct about one thing. This information will be useful to voters in the 2004 election. Now that you know the mental condition of the people who will select the Democrat presidential candate, you know a great deal about what they expect from that candidate if he is elected.

Whatever flaws you may perceive in George Bush, they can't hold a candle to insanity like this. Stay away from voting, or support a third party candidate, and this is what you're going to get in the White House.
